Student & Resident Research
Clinical Resident Research
Two rotations dedicated to research are included in the PGY-3 curriculum in order to encourage academic involvement and productivity. Residents can explore research in laboratory and basic animal studies, biomechanical properties of various fixation devices and implants, clinical trials and treatment comparisons and all types of outcomes research. Senior residents present their research at the annual spring Resident-Alumni Thesis Day. Our residents also present at various national and international association and society conferences.

Translational/Bench Research
The Hsu laboratory involves numerous students, research fellows, and residents in their research each year. Four medical students taking a gap year to perform research in orthopaedics are accepted by the lab each year. These students are heavily involved in the translational aspects of their research. The Hsu lab also accomodates residents interested in performing translational and/or bench research, either involving these individuals in their ongoing studies, or if possible, implementing studies conceived by the residents."
